Finally some more VC-1 success!!

Okay, so I've decided to try using the Lossless codecs a little more.
I figure if remuxing the VC-1 into a WMV file for Sony Vegas will cause some live feedback issues (and some rendering issues), that I might as well convert the bloody thing.

But since converting means loss of quality... I decided to venture down that lossless road again (why not).
I tried the Ut Lossless Codec again.
But this time with VirtualDub rather than ProCoder3. (and downsizing the bluray video to 480p using Spline16).
SUCCESS!
It plays back normally, zero loss, and a decent file size!

The Video:
Heat (VC-1 source in an MKV container, 1080p, trimmed to 1 chapter: 7minutes)
AviSynth Script: (ffms2, spline16, and trim; 480p, trimmed to 1 minute)
VirtualDub: Fast Recompress, Ut Video Codec.

It converted reasonably fast.
(Vista SP2; AMD Dual Core 1.9MHz 1MB Level 2 Cache; 2gb Ram)

1 minute video conversion:

13.14-14.22 fps conversion speed
1:45 conversion time
190MB output file size
Retained frame rate and nearly all the bitrate (about 1mbps less than orginal video)

However, I did mess up on retaining aspect ratio.
Original: 16:9
Output: 3:2

I think I need to tweak the script or check VirtualDub settings...

To Do:
Check Aspect Ratio settings
Check Colorspace (what Sony Vegas uses and convert to that format, if needed)
Test with 1080p script
Test 480p.avi in CCE and compare conversion speed as apposed to frame serving an .avs
Test different resizers for downscaling: spline16/36/64, Lancsoz/3/4
Test converted videos in Sony Vegas
Find more To Do things to add to To Do list...
